In nature, there are cacti that fear the sun, love water, and have no thorns. They are called Schlumbergera, either Dekabrista or Zygocactus. This plant is part of a genus of epiphytic South American cacti that grow on tree branches in tropical forests. The zygocactus blooms during the tropical summer in its native land, in November or December, and blooms end in the last days of January. The Decembrist was introduced to the mid-latitudes in 1816 by collector Allan Cunningham.
